Check out this graphic from NBC40 showing the potential flooding.

The National Weather Service predicts the high tides to be seven feet above mean lower low water for both Atlantic City and Seaside Heights (they do not forecast specifically for LBI).

For comparison purposes, here is some historic data for Atlantic City:
HIGHEST EVER RECORDED – December 11, 1992 – 13.94 feet
SUPERSTORM SANDY – October 29, 2012 – 13.72 feet
1962 ‘NOR EASTER – March 6, 1962 – 13.40 feet
HIGHEST POST-SANDY – December 21, 2012 – 11.58 feet.

Stormy weather is coming… eventually.

So far only 0.01″ of rain today on LBI (as of 7pm) but more is expected.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for the LBI area until 9pm.  There is also a Wind Advisory for gusts up to 45mph is in effect until midnight for the LBI area.

Fortunately the worst of the storms should hit around low tide on the bay (8:06pm at the causeway bridge) so flooding should be minimal.

**8:13pm update: Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect until 9pm.

One more nice day at the shore, perfect kite flying weather.

High temps in the mid 70s, ocean water ranging from 72 to 73 degrees throughout the day and wind gusts up to 25mph.

Unfortunately our nice weather streak seems to be coming to an end with a 70% chance of rain forecast for Tuesday.
