Do you hear that noise? DON’T PANIC!

On May 23, 2013 at 9:30a & 2:30p Exelon will be testing the 42 new outdoor warning sirens for Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station for 3 minutes in duration.

Also, on May 29, 2013 Exelon will be conducting multiple full volume 3 min siren soundings beginning at 9am.

This new state-of-the-art siren system incorporates battery backup systems and upgraded communications systems. The 42 outdoor sirens are located within a 10 mile radius of the Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station which is located in the mainland municipality of Lacey Township. This 10 mile radius includes the following towns on Long Beach Island: Barnegat Light, High Bar Harbor, Loveladies, Harvey Cedars and North Beach.

A rainy, dreary day here at the shore.

Pictured below is 79th Street in Harvey Cedars.  This is the location where the storm of 1962 broke through Long Beach Island causing a 40 foot wide, 20 foot deep inlet to form.  Looks like it survived 2012′s Hurricane Sandy pretty well.
